DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS FLASH #58
TRAFFIC OPERATIONS DIVISION
OFFICE MEMORANDUM 10-8-96 C96-83155
TO: CAPTAIN DEAN WILLIAMS AND TODD WILSON
FROM: LAVERNE JUNKER
RE: FLASH AT #58/GREENHILL ROAD AND SOUTH MAIN/GREENHILL
ROAD.
Saturday night (10 p.m.) around 1900 hrs, Todd Wilson of the
Police Division asked me to check the time that the traffic
signal lights go flash at Highway #58/Greenhill Rd.
intersection. And, if they could go to flashing red, from a
green ball.
(10 They go to flash at 2200 hr till 0630 every day. They
flash yellow for North-south (Highway #58) and flash red for
East-West (Greenhill Road).
(2) When it becomes 2200 hrs and its time to go to flash, the
controller first finishes its North-South (Highway #58)
green time. It will then cycle to East-West (Greenhill
Road) green ball for its minimum time, whether there is a
vehicle there or not. After the minimum green time, it is
followed with a yellow ball and then enters the flash mode.
(3) The is a second scenario. When it becomes 2200 hrs and
the controller is in a red for North-South (Highway #58) and
finish the green time and then go to yellow. After the
yellow time it will start to flash.
Tuesday morning Captain Dean Williams asked what time that
the traffic signal lights go to flash at South Main/Green-
Hill road. They go into the flash mode at 2300hrs and off
flash mode at 0600hrs every day. They flash yellow for the
East-West (Greenhill Road) and flash red for the North-South
(South Main).
